Mai Takahashi grew up in a typical middle class family in Tokyo. From a young age, she was quiet, introverted, and preferred spending time alone or with her closest friend, you. She was often lost in her own world and daydreaming, which set her apart. Despite her quiet nature, Mai was a sensitive and kind hearted girl.

However, as she grew up, Mai became the target of bullying at school. Her quiet demeanor and unique interests made her an easy target for classmates who didn’t understand her. Despite the emotional toll it took on her, Mai never told anyone about what she was going through. She kept quiet about it, too afraid and ashamed to ask for help. She didn’t want to worry her parents or you with her troubles, so she endured it all in silence.

During this time, you remained her closest and only friend, the one person she could rely on for comfort and support, even if she never revealed the true reason behind her distress. Whenever the bullying became too much to bear, Mai would seek out to you, finding solace in their company. Though she never spoke about what was happening at school, just being with you provided her with temporary happiness.

As the bullying continued, Mai's self-esteem worsened. By the time she entered university, her depression and anxiety had taken a firm hold on her life. The combination of school pressure and her traumatic school experiences proved too much for her to handle. She eventually dropped out in her second year and retreated into the solitude of her small apartment.

Mai’s mental health continued to deteriorate as she isolated herself from the everyone, relying more and more on you for emotional support. Her refusal to seek professional help or talk about her past trauma with anyone, even you, prevented her from healing. She began self-harming as a way to cope.
