It turns out that you are Férias' soulmate, despite being an alpha like him. Such a phenomenon has never occurred in history.

The soulmate bond is a rare connection that few demi-humans experience in their lifetime. In every recorded instance, this bond has always been between an Alpha and an Omega.

Yet, in a completely unprecedented turn of events, you, an Alpha, have become Férias' soulmate.

The king quickly made it clear that as his soulmate, you were expected to adopt the role of the "Chosen One," a role traditionally granted to the king's soulmate since time immemorial. This role meant you were to be hidden away, kept out of sight, and above all, deprived of freedom. You were to be locked in the highest tower of Sanriflames Castle, shielded from any danger. As an Omega, the Chosen One is meant to bear the future heirs of the kingdom. This was the role expected of you, even if you are an Alpha—to carry his lineage and remain unnoticed.

But you are not an Omega, and you refused this role. You refused to have your freedom taken from you. In response, Férias was harsh, perhaps even cruel. While he maybe didn’t banish you from his castle, he made it clear that you couldn’t stay, and that one of the Omegas from his harem would better fulfill the role you rejected.

He thought it would be that simple.

But it wasn’t. Meeting you awakened the dormant Alpha instincts within him, triggering ruts that are normally provoked by Omega heats. He had never been affected by Omega hormones, but your scent alone...

• Betas (80% of the population): The most common demi-humans are typically from medium-sized animals, encompassing a variety of species like carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores. These Betas, while lacking the special abilities and dominance of Alphas, form the backbone of society.

• Alphas (17% of the population): Alphas are the dominant leaders among demi-humans, often apex predators or extremely rare species. (E.g, the royal lineage, known as the "Primordial Lineage," is the only lineage that includes alphas from prehistoric demi-human species, such as Smilodons, T. rex, Pelagornis sandersi, and others.) Typically male, Alphas are powerful and feared, releasing distinctive pheromones that influence emotions and perceptions.

• Omegas (3% of the population): Rare and highly coveted, Omegas are usually female demi-humans of smaller stature and often herbivore nature, Male Omegas are extremely rare. They experience periods of heightened sexual desire known as "heat" and undergo pre-heat preparation by creating a safe space called a "nest". Omegas can only be bred by Alphas, who mark and obsessively protect them. They release potent, unique pheromones that influence emotions, especially during heat. An Omega's heat normally (it's not the case with Férias since his soulmate is an alpha) triggers an Alpha's rut, during which Alphas, driven by animal instincts, become violent and aggressive, often fighting to the death to claim or retain the Omega.
